At the end of November, the little jewel box in Prague hosted our annual distributor meeting. Our goal is to get to know product innovations, professional work in partner countries and help each other work with our partners.
Adisseo’s new versatile probiotic ALTERION has been mentioned, and its key feature is to help prevent poultry necrosis, which causes farmers worldwide losses of nearly $ 6 billion.
The beneficial effects of probiotics have long been known. After 1850, Pasteur realized that various bacteria were responsible for the deterioration of milk, cheese or beer. Élie Metchnikoff (Ilya Mechnikov) first thought that if probiotics were introduced into the body with different foods, we could have a positive effect. Practical experience was gained through a Bulgarian group of people whose daily diet was sour milk, resulting in a longer than average life expectancy for them.
The feed additive containing the strain Alterion probiotic Bacillus subtilis offers a solution for poultry species and its properties are significantly different from those currently available on the market. The product works on two fronts: it protects animal health with beneficial (commensal) bacteria living with the organism and reduces the presence of Clostridium perfingens, which leads to necrotic bowel inflammation. Overall, it promotes the development of a stable immune system and nutrient absorption, thereby improving average daily body weight gain and feed specificity.
It is recommended that ALTERION NE® (Concentration – 1×10-CFU / g) be mixed at a dose of 10g / t feed. Available in 20 kg bags. The diluted version is ALTERION NE50® (Concentration – 2×10⁸ CFU / g), which is recommended to be mixed in a dose of 500g / t feed and is also available in 20 kg packages. In broilers, it can be administered from the first day of life until slaughter.
Of course, the product is GM-free, contains no animal-derived materials and is FAMIQs accredited, heat-stable, so it can be pelleted without problems.
In addition to the professional novelty, let us say a few words about Prague, the golden city that has been a World Heritage Site since 1992. Celebrities such as Franz Kafka, Dvorak, Smetana, Mozart or Czech Korda György, the Sinatra of the East, Karel Gott, are associated with the city. Although we are not superstitious, when we visited, we stroked the statue of St. John the Baptist, who, according to legend, stands at the place where John Nepomuki was thrown into the water. To commemorate this, a cross was placed here with five stars, and if one touches it so that each finger touches one star, one wishes is fulfilled. My other favorite (besides the fine beers, of course) is the wonderful Orloj on the side of the town hall. The clock symbolizes the passage of time with the 12 apostles, skeleton and hourglass, and is completed with the legendary story of the blind clockmaker.
We are always happy to spend time at each of these meetings, to talk together, in which cultures, differences between nations are not a problem, and for 3 days we are “advanced hedonists”, global citizens.
